Welcome to the Truth & Justice Project

At the Truth & Justice Project, we are dedicated to exonerating individuals who have been wrongfully convicted, advocating for systemic reforms to prevent future injustices, and educating the public about the prevalence and impact of wrongful convictions.

Exonerate

We provide funding for investigative and legal services to those who have been unjustly incarcerated, working tirelessly to secure their freedom. We provide these services pro bono to the client.

Reform

We collaborate with policymakers to address and rectify the systemic issues that lead to wrongful convictions, striving for a more just and equitable legal system.

Educate

We engage with communities to raise awareness about wrongful convictions, fostering a deeper understanding of the causes and consequences of these injustices.

The Impact of Wrongful Convictions

Wrongful convictions not only devastate the lives of the innocent but also erode public trust in the justice system. It is estimated that a significant number of individuals are currently imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. Our work aims to shed light on these miscarriages of justice and to advocate for those who have been silenced.

American Exonerations

Exonerations in the United States highlight critical flaws in the criminal justice system, where innocent individuals are wrongfully convicted and spend years—sometimes decades—behind bars. Since 1989, over 3,000 people have been exonerated, with contributing factors including mistaken eyewitness identification, false confessions, prosecutorial misconduct, and flawed forensic evidence. These cases often reveal systemic issues that demand reform. Organizations dedicated to post-conviction advocacy work tirelessly to uncover the truth, secure justice, and push for legislative change. Exonerations not only restore freedom to the innocent but also shine a light on the urgent need for accountability and fairness within our legal system.
